Welcome to Spotlight for Success by American Book Company. I'm Devin Pintosi, your host. We are here in sunny San Antonio, texas, at the ASCD ISTE Conference and we are so excited to have with us our special guest, dr Xanthia Reddish. She's with us from Empowered. Thank you for joining us today.
Speaker 2:Thank you for having me. I'm so excited to be here. All right, and I understand we'll go by Dr Z, is that right? Yes, everyone calls me Dr Z, it's so much easier.
Speaker 1:Okay, dr Z, tell me what brings you here to ASCD ISTE.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. I had the pleasure of being one of the presenters here at this amazing conference. Wow. So I, just in the last couple hours, presented to a whole room full of teachers and administrators. I was speaking around the topic of classroom management and how to help teachers to teach more and stress less.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's fantastic. And tell me a bit about about how you got into doing that kind of public speaking work at conferences and how that works.
Speaker 2:Absolutely so. I am an educator.
Speaker 2:Been an educator all my life, ever since I was about like eight years old Now. Of course, those students were invisible, but I was teaching nevertheless, and so I went on from teaching and I was a principal for 18 years Wow Before starting my company, empowered Educational Consulting, and so now I actually go back and give back in a way that I wanted when I was an administrator, and I do it in a couple of ways providing professional development to teachers, et cetera. I was a principal at a school, at a couple of schools, where I got the pleasure of working through a lot of different behaviors, so I became somewhat of an expert, and so I'm sharing a lot of those strategies with people all across the country, because we really need it these days. But I'm also working with school principals, helping them to be able to strengthen their skills and get the support that they need, because their work is hard as well.

Speaker 2:Absolutely. I just believe in investing in the wellness of our teachers and administrators. That's how we will continue to make our education great for students by investing in not just our teachers but also our leaders that actually oversee those schools.
